Sigur Ros - Heima Trailer (via efremsigur)
After going to the Mauerpark flea market this afternoon, I went for a little walk and saw a poster that seemed to indicate that Sigur Rós was going to be playing tonight at the Admiralspalast, an old theatre on Friedrichstrasse.
I soon found to my disappointment that it had sold out (but not as quickly as the David Sylvian performance I’d tried to get into a couple of weeks ago). But I was determined! I went anyway and stood with about 20 other determined people with an index card that read “EINE KARTE BITTE” and within about 20 minutes I had procured a ticket for an exhorbitant price. I was in!
They played a short but very moving acoustic set, and then for the main event, they showed their excellent new film, Heima. (Iclandic for “home”)
Heima is both a love poem to Iceland and its people — The entire film was filmed in Iceland, in remote towns and villages, as they gave free shows — and a rock video film, full of gorgeous, cinematic imagery and earthy textures. It’s the perfect Sigur Rós film.
